Welcome to Africa
Leading Edge Safaris was started by Albert Mitugo and John Gikonyo both natives of Kenya who come from a background of Conservation Education and Travel Industry. Mitugo has been in the travel industry for the last 12 years having worked with college age Outdoor Education programs as well as guiding clients on Safari in East Africa and North America. He worked for the National Outdoor Leadership School out of Wyoming, St Michael’s College Outdoor Program in Vermont, Lewis & Clark study abroad programs as well guided many trips in the wild Lands of East Africa. He has extensive knowledge of East African wildlife and cultures and he is so at home in the outdoors as he believes in letting the land teach human kind. He is a conservationist and a naturalist at heart and he has in the past been involved in national park cleanup activities as well as educating locals on the importance of conservation for future generations. Mitugo is part Maasai and part Kikuyu. Gikonyo who has a passion for the conservation of natures assets has worked in the field of biodiversity and ecological conservation for the last 14 years. Our firm believe is that over the traditional tourism and adventure travel, we should always adress the issue of educating our clients and promoting the sustainability of our ecosystem. We are not just part of an emerging trend but always work towards this realizatiion.
